Seasonal frozen drinks are not new to menus. After all, 7-Eleven’s iconic Slurpee debuted in 1966, almost three decades before the original Starbucks Frappuccino appeared on the frozen drink scene or the Dunkin’ Coolata was born.
In 2024, if you’re trying to keep cool in the summer heat, then a frozen beverage could be just what you’re looking for – especially if you’re among the 26% of U.S. adults who buy a blended frozen beverage from convenience stores and quick-service restaurants ‘somewhat’ or ‘very’ often.
Perhaps given their nostalgic origins, it may not be surprising that frozen blended beverages are the most popular among adults aged 25-34. However, the most avid fans of the chilly drinks – those who buy them ‘very’ often – do display unique behaviors that set them apart from those less interested in a brain freeze.
