1. Many spring travelers haven’t finished all of their bookings, and interest in urban-setting vacations nearly tripled over the past four years.
As spring travel kicks into high gear, CivicScience data show that just over one quarter (27%) of travelers have their plans fully booked. That’s up seven percentage points from last month, but it indicates that a substantial share of travelers are still in the decision-making phase. And when it comes to the type of vacation these spring travelers are considering, beach vacations remain the most popular option. However, interest in those vacations has declined nearly 10 points over the past four years. Instead, interest in urban-centered vacations has nearly tripled, while interest in visiting family and adventure excursions has also increased for spring 2026.

2. Nearly 2 in 5 U.S. adults say they plan to get a pet within the next 12 months, and current pet owners plan to up their pet care spending.
New consumer-reported data finds that about 17% of U.S. adults are planning to get a dog in the next 12 months, while 11% are planning to get a cat, and an equal share (5%) is likely to get a fish or another type of pet. The pet industry is showing remarkable staying power in consumer spending, despite an economy of persistent uncertainty. Additional CivicScience data show a net spending intent of +28%, with 38% of owners planning to spend more on their pets this year compared to only 10% who plan to cut back. Cat owners are leading this charge as they are four percentage points more likely than dog owners to increase their budget for supplies and care.

3. A preference for women rideshare users to reserve a trip with a woman driver garners strong support among Americans.
Uber recently rolled out its Women Preference feature nationwide, allowing women riders to book rides with women drivers. New CivicScience survey data shows that roughly two-thirds of Americans agree that ride-sharing services should offer women the option to request a female driver (excluding those unsure). While this sentiment is expectedly strongest among women, the majority of men are also supportive, and the consensus spans political lines.
