Even though overall consumer sentiment about the U.S. economy remains above its 2014 average and is at a similar level from one year ago, a number of areas of our index are showing volatility. The following data is from the Economic Sentiment Index (ESI) that CivicScience produces in partnership with Hamilton Place Strategies, and the recent bi-weekly full report can be found here.
- The three-day rolling average went from 49.5 to 44.8 then up to 46.1.
- Confidence in making major purchases is at a 27-week high.
- Confidence in the national economy dropped to pre-December 2013 levels.
- Confidence in personal finances dropped to a four-month low.
