The percentage of Americans who were comfortable shopping in retail stores fell dramatically the week after Christmas, dropping from 67% to 62% week-over-week as fears about the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus spread.
And it wasn’t just shopping, either. The last two weeks of 2021 were not kind at all to CivicScience’s ongoing COVID Comfort Index. Over the past two weeks…
- Comfort with eating out dropped from 67% to 60%.
- Comfort with traveling fell from 51% to 43%.
- Comfort with attending large public events slipped from 48% to 42%.
- Comfort with working dropped from 65% to 61%.
The index overall hit its lowest point since mid-August. Check out our weekly COVID Check-In infographic below for more details.
