One week into the Olympics and the storylines are almost too many to mention. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team is killing it. Our basketball teams are playing on another level.
But it’s Michael Phelps and his four gold medals that everyone is talking about.
39% of our respondents and 56% of Olympics viewers have chosen Phelps has the biggest star of the Games thus far. Gymnastics phenom Biles and dominant swimmer Ledecky tie for a respectable second. Biles scored particularly high among women and the youngest respondents. Perhaps Lily King’s smack-talking and finger-waving hasn’t quite endeared her to everyone.
We’ll check in again next week to see if anything changes. But for now, like in most of his races, Phelps is winning comfortably.
