Only in America do we celebrate what we’re thankful for, immediately followed by shopping for what we don’t yet have, only to be followed by donating what’s presumably left over from our Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping binges. That’s just a lengthy way of saying that today is Giving Tuesday.

Fun fact: Google now recommends “#givingtuesday” when you type “Giving Tuesday.” Welcome to the #future?

In the spirit of the day, I thought I’d consider the traits of those who donate to education/research non-profit organizations. For the sake of equality, I counted donors as anyone who donates anything at all, from $1 to $100,000. As a starting point, 51% of people we polled (85,479 people total) fit the bill.

How do these donors differ from non-donors and donors of other causes?
