The salad-centric, fast-casual chain Sweetgreen has enjoyed a year of increasing momentum, with growing revenue and entry into new states. The chain’s 230+ locations have been a force in what has shown to be a difficult time for the QSR industry, as consumers cut back in the face of higher prices. A look into CivicScience data suggests one reason why things are looking up for Sweetgreen – overall consumer interest in eating at fast-casual salad chains has increased by five percentage points since August of 2023, rising from 37% to 42%.

Additional data show 41% of Americans who are familiar with the restaurant are favorable toward Sweetgreen, which slightly leads competitor Chopt Creative Salad Co. (40%) but trails another QSR rival with a Mediterranean focus, CAVA (42%). Sweetgreen’s customer base skews young, and is largely driven by adults under 45.
