Hot honey is far from new. In fact, within the U.S. market, the bold flavor combination has been gracing tables for years–in large part due to the popularity of Mike’s Hot Honey. The condiment, which first came onto the scene as a finishing touch for pizzas, has since grown to become a topping for just about anything you can imagine–from fried chicken to cocktails and everything in between.

Fresh CivicScience data show that 17% of respondents have used Mike’s Hot Honey, while 11% intend to do so. Meanwhile, 56% have not heard of the brand, highlighting opportunities for expanding product awareness, especially as the brand works to branch out. Additionally, those who have tried the condiment or who plan to do so tend to skew younger, slightly male (18% to 16% among women), and make less than $100K annually.

How can Mike’s Hot Honey further grow its market share? Here are five key data points about those who have tried the brand and how they compared to those who are either not interested or who have never heard of it.
