As the latest installment of CivicScience’s brand comparison series, which analyzes key differences among brands by leveraging the unexpected insights in the InsightStore™, we’re highlighting two competitive names in the lingerie drawer: Victoria’s Secret and American Eagle Outfitters’ Aerie brand. 

As both brands cater to women, recent data show 37% of U.S. adult women are favorable toward shopping at Victoria’s Secret, while 9% are favorable toward shopping at Aerie. Victoria’s Secret has established itself as a household name that most Americans are familiar with, whereas Aerie has room to grow – around half of consumers have not heard of the brand. While it’s common knowledge that the two brands have very different personas, a closer look reveals clear and noteworthy differences between Victoria’s Secret and Aerie shoppers.
