Trader Joe’s has long held its place in the grocery store pantheon as an alternative to the big-box stores with name-brand products. Throughout its history, the company has created a unique shopping experience, bolstered by its iconic branding. The grocery store has a culture that one might describe as a cult-like status. After all, 37% of U.S. adults are favorable towards shopping at the stores.

So when the brand released a mini canvas tote bag earlier this year, some described it as the new Stanley cup, with its ability to fly off the shelves and end up on resale markets in a flash. A closer look at the data reveals that Trader Joe’s shoppers exhibit distinct characteristics that place the grocery giant – and its customers – in a league of their own.
