Reddit, like much of the market, has had a recent rough go of things. Despite this recent turbulence, the social media platform built around topic-specific forums known as subreddits, still plays a significant role in many Americans’ online habits.

According to CivicScience data, more than a third (36%) of Americans visit Reddit or its app at least once a month, while another 14% visit less frequently. Gen Z adults aged 18-24 are the most frequent users, with 56% reporting monthly or more visits, followed by 52% of those aged 25-44 and 32% of those aged 45-54. Monthly usage drops to 16% among those 55 and older.

Men and women are equally likely to visit Reddit at some point throughout the year, but men are slightly more likely than women to browse the platform at least monthly (38% vs. 34%).

As CivicScience has previously explored, Reddit plays a noteworthy role in American lives because it serves many different functions for them. With a significant share of consumers actively using the platform, brands and marketers have a valuable opportunity to better understand and engage this audience.
