Over the past few years, Costco and Sam’s Club have maintained steady favorability ratings. While Costco consistently comes out on top, both membership warehouses have loyal customer bases who both love bulk-buying and weekend tasting kiosks.
Despite Costco’s reigning popularity, its members are less likely than Sam’s Club members to return to activities if the government issued an all-clear. If lockdowns were lifted, it’s Sam’s Club shoppers that would more quickly return to the store to shop.
While 90% of U.S. adults have expressed some level of concern over the impact of the coronavirus on the economy, Sam’s Club favorables show slightly less concern than their Costco counterparts. The data suggest that when lockdowns are actually lifted, Sam’s Club shoppers are the more likely bunch to return to a semblance of normalcy and spending.
