New details have just been released on Disney100, The Walt Disney Company’s 100th-anniversary celebration consisting of anniversary merchandise and collectibles, nighttime spectaculars at Disney parks, movie releases, and much more. The celebration will officially kick off in 2023, and CivicScience surveyed U.S. adults on their plans to commemorate 100 Years of Wonder.

Survey results show that the most popular way to commemorate among celebrators is watching Disney movies, with visiting Disney parks taking second place (n=3,233). However, nearly three-quarters of adults don’t plan to celebrate.

Next year will feature some of Disney’s newest movies, including the live-action version of “The Little Mermaid,” which is trending on TikTok as parents share their kid’s reactions to the teaser featuring Black actress Halle Bailey. Also debuting are “The Haunted Mansion” and “Peter Pan & Wendy.”

The data show that adults are most excited about “The Haunted Mansion” (13%), which is nearly tied with “The Little Mermaid” (12%).

With many anniversary events taking place at Disney parks, such as special firework displays, CivicScience surveyed adults on their favorite parts about visiting the parks (Walt Disney World, Disneyland, etc.). Among those visiting, more than half say their favorite part is amusement park rides (52%), followed by shows and fireworks (20%).

Looking at the number of times people have visited, 77% of U.S. adults report they’ve been or intend to visit a Disney park. And, 1-in-5 respondents say they’ve been to a Disney park at least five times.

The Walt Disney Company is clearly making marks among many Americans, and it will be exciting to see how Disney100 will continue spreading the Disney magic for decades to come.
